I'll be graduating in May 2012 from the University of Rochester with a degree in Brain & Cognitive Sciences and Linguistics and a minor in Computer Science. I'm most interested in computational approaches to cognitive science, particularly psycholinguistics; sometimes my interests end up crossing over into natural language processing.

A laundry list of topics and tools of interest (in order of familiarity, as much as that can mean for someone at my stage of academia) include corpus linguistics, ideal observer models, machine learning, information theory, evolutionary game theory, the relationship of lexical semantics to symbol grounding and language acquisition, and computational approaches to linguistic typology and language evolution. Informally, the history of "Big Picture" questions in the cognitive sciences (e.g. neats vs. scruffies in AI, empiricism vs. nativism in "cognitive science proper") is also a bundle of topics I enjoy learning about.

My "hobby" interests in computer science include evolutionary computation (particularly work with implications for biology and other natural evolutionary processes), functional programming, and data visualization.
