For questions about the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST)

The International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST) is a transliteration scheme that allows a lossless romanization of Indic scripts like Devanagari. It is used to romanize Sanskrit, Pāḷi, Prākṛta, Apabhraṁśa and other languages. It is based on the notation used by Monier Monier-Williams in his 1899 dictionary.
